"Have you ever accidentally almost called me the wrong name?" Vincy asked out of the blue. "Like someone else you've dated?"

"Uh, no, but it is a lingering concern of mine," I answered. "I keep thinking that I hope I never do that, and I never have. I was really scared of calling Shirley 'Koko' the whole time we dated, but I never actually did it. Well, at least never in front of her."

"It's okay. If you do it to me I won't hold it against you. I'll just say, 'Wrong girl!'"

And I wish to god I had been clever enough to say, "Okay, Shirley!"
